On October 16, 2022, the vehicle in which Sharafali was travelling crashed into another vehicle on Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum Road in Abu Dhabi after it failed to stop at a traffic signal. The court found that the accident was caused by the negligence of the driver of the vehicle in which Sharafali was travelling, and the Traffic Criminal Court fined the driver 4,000 dirhams and released him.

Subsequently, Sharafali, who suffered serious injuries to his neck and ears in the accident, approached Salam Pappinissery, CEO of YAB LEGAL SERVICES and a social activist, to seek compensation. Later, through his intervention, a case was registered against the insurance company of the vehicle in which Sharafali was travelling by submitting medical reports and police reports before the Insurance Authority. In that case, the Insurance Authority asked the insurance company to pay 100,000 (one hundred thousand) dirhams in compensation.

However, the insurance company filed a civil case in the Dubai Court, claiming that Malik Sultan had not suffered any significant injuries according to the documents submitted and that the amount awarded was excessive and that it should be reduced. When the case reached the court, Sharafali's lawyer submitted a reply memorandum with strong documents, including medical reports. The insurance company's arguments could not stand up to the documents and arguments submitted by the lawyer in the court. The court found that the insurance company that insured the vehicle Sharafali was traveling in was liable for compensation and that Sharafali had suffered serious injuries according to the medical report, so the insurance authority should pay the amount awarded.

Later, Sharafali's lawyer approached the Court of Appeal, showing that the compensation awarded for the accident suffered by Sharafali was not sufficient. Based on a re-examination of the medical report and injuries submitted by him, the Court of Appeal increased the compensation amount to 120,000 (one hundred and twenty thousand) dirhams.
