A compensation of 50,000 dirhams to be paid to a Pakistani national who was injured in a car accident.

The court has ordered a compensation of 50,000 dirhams (2 million Pakistani rupees) to be paid to Muhammad Ikram, a Pakistani national who was injured in a car accident, through the intervention of Salam Pappinissery, CEO of YAB LEGAL SERVICES, a social activist and a well-known legal representative in the UAE.

On August 15, 2020, Ikram's bike went out of control and overturned within the limits of Dubai Al Barsha Police Station. The court found that the accident occurred due to reckless driving and released Ikram as it was an unintentional accident.

Subsequently, Ikram, who suffered serious injuries in the car accident, approached many people to get compensation as he was at fault, but they turned him away saying that he would not get compensation as he was at fault. Finally, he approached Salam Pappinissery, CEO of YAB LEGAL SERVICES and a social activist. Later, through his intervention, he submitted medical reports, police reports and insurance documents before the Insurance Authority and registered a case against a leading insurance company in the UAE for compensation. In that case, the Insurance Authority asked the insurance company to pay 50,000 (fifty thousand) dirhams in compensation.

However, according to the documents submitted, the insurance company filed a civil case claiming that Ikram had not suffered any significant injuries and that the awarded amount was excessive and that it should be reduced, but that argument was completely rejected due to lack of evidence. The insurance company also approached the Court of Appeal with the same argument, but after examining the reply memorandum and medical report submitted by Ikram's lawyer, the Court of Appeal also rejected the insurance company's case.

Finally, based on the medical report submitted by Ikram's lawyer and the proven injuries, the Court of Appeal ordered Ikram to be paid 50,000 UAE dirhams, i.e. 2 million Pakistani rupees as compensation.
