On March 25, 2020, a Pakistani national was driving a car in Bur Dubai police station limits, violating traffic rules and driving recklessly and without maintaining the required distance, which resulted in the car hitting the truck in front, which then collided with the vehicles behind one after the other. Ghulam Abubakar was in the vehicle driven by the driver who was responsible for the accident. Ghulam sustained serious injuries in the accident. He was immediately admitted to Rashid Hospital.

The Pakistani national who was driving the vehicle was found guilty by the court in a criminal case and was released after paying a fine of 3000 dirhams. On this occasion, a case was filed before the Insurance Authority, making the vehicle's insurance company the opposing party, to seek compensation. Ghulam approached Salam Pappinissery, CEO of YAB LEGAL SERVICES in the UAE, to take legal action for this.

Ghulam's lawyer argued before the authority that the insurance company that insured the vehicle should pay compensation, as Ghulam had sustained injuries all over his body and that the driver's negligence was the cause of his serious injuries. After hearing the arguments, the authority asked the insurance company to pay compensation of 500,000 dirhams.

Against this, the insurance company approached the civil court and the appeal court and argued that the injuries were not serious and that this high amount was more than the compensation, and that they should only pay compensation based on the injuries after examining the medical reports and documents.

However, the arguments of the insurance company's lawyer could not stand up in the face of the medical reports and documents submitted by Ghulam Abubakar's lawyer.

The court, after considering the arguments of both parties, examined the medical report issued by the UAE Medical Legal Department and the records of the medical expenses, and found that the first instance court awarded the same 500,000 dirhams, dismissed the insurance company's appeal and imposed legal fees on them.
