Dubai: The Dubai Court has ordered Abdul Rahman (37), a native of Kuttippuram, to pay 506,514 dirhams (1 crore 3 lakh Indian rupees) in compensation to Abdul Rahman, who was injured in a car accident. The court's order in favor of Abdul Rahman has come after a year-long legal battle.

On August 22, 2019, an accident occurred when Abdul Rahman's parked vehicle was hit by a car in Masafi, Fujairah. The court found that the accident was due to the negligence of the driver of the opposing vehicle that collided with Abdul Rahman's vehicle, and the Traffic Criminal Court fined the driver 3,000 dirhams and released him. Subsequently, Abdul Rahman's family friend Ismail and his friends approached Salam Pappinissery, a legal representative and social activist in the UAE, to obtain compensation for Abdul Rahman, who was seriously injured in the car accident. Later, through his intervention, a case was registered against a leading insurance company in the UAE and the driver of the vehicle by submitting medical reports and police reports to the Insurance Authority. In that case, the Insurance Authority asked the insurance company to pay 500,000 dirhams in compensation.

However, according to the documents submitted, the insurance company filed a civil case in the Dubai Court, claiming that Abdul Rahman had not suffered any significant injuries and that the amount awarded was excessive and that it should be reduced. When the case reached the court, Abdul Rahman's lawyer submitted a reply memorandum with strong documents including medical reports.
