Al Ain Road Accident: Jay Singh Chouhan Awarded AED 80,000 in Compensation

Al Ain: Indian national Jay Singh Chouhan, who sustained injuries in a road accident in Al Ain, has been awarded AED 80,000 (approximately INR 1.87 million) in compensation. This legal victory was achieved with the assistance of Salam Pappinissery, CEO of YAB Legal Services.
The accident occurred on May 25, 2023. Jay Singh Chouhan was crossing the road when he was hit by a car driven by a Filipino national, who failed to give priority to pedestrians and drove negligently. The Filipino driver was found to have disregarded traffic signs, regulations, and courtesies. Following the accident, Jay Singh suffered severe injuries to his hands and other parts of his body and was immediately taken to Tawam Hospital in Al Ain.
In the criminal case related to this incident, the car driver was fined AED 3,000 and had her driving license suspended for three months.
Subsequently, Jay Singh sought the assistance of YAB Legal Services, led by Salam Pappinissery. The legal team submitted all necessary documents to the court, including the accident report, the criminal case judgment, a forensic medical report, and payment receipts.
Initially, the case was filed against the car's existing insurance company. The Insurance Authority ordered this company to pay AED 80,000 in compensation. However, the insurance company appealed, arguing that the compensation should be paid by the company that insured the car at the time of the accident. The appeal court accepted this argument and ruled that the insurance company which had insured the car at the time of the accident was liable to pay the compensation to Jay Singh.
