Al Ain Road Accident: Pakistani National Awarded AED 50,000 Compensation

AL AIN: A Pakistani national, Adnan Usman Rao, who was injured in a road accident in Al Ain, has been awarded a compensation of AED 50,000 (approximately 38 lakh Pakistani Rupees) by the court.
The incident took place on July 28, 2024, in Al Ain. The accident occurred when a car driver reversed their vehicle without ensuring the path was clear, subsequently colliding with a motorcycle behind them.
The police investigation concluded that the fault lay with the Indian car driver, who was operating the vehicle negligently. A criminal case was registered against the driver, and a fine of AED 3,000 was imposed.
Adnan Usman Rao sustained injuries to his neck, arms, legs, and shoulder and was immediately admitted to Al Tawam Hospital. Although the criminal case verdict was issued, compensation for his injuries had not been settled.
Adnan Rao's relatives approached Yab Legal Services CEO, Salam Pappinissery, who took up the case. The legal team filed a compensation claim with the Insurance Authority (Insurance Dispute Settlement Court), submitting all necessary documents, including the medical certificate and the criminal case judgment.
The Insurance Authority, after reviewing the case, ordered the insurance company to pay Adnan Usman Rao AED 50,000 in compensation. Furthermore, the court mandated an additional 5% interest on the amount from the date of the verdict until the full payment is made, along with AED 4,100 for medical expenses and AED 500 for legal fees.
The insurance company filed an appeal against this verdict in the Appellate Court. However, due to the strong counter-memorandum presented by the advocates at Yab Legal Services, the Appellate Court rejected the appeal, upholding the original judgment in favor of Adnan Usman Rao.
