The accident occurred on January 23, 2022, when a Bangladeshi driver carelessly and recklessly rear-ended an Indian driver on Sharjah Airport Road. As a result of the accident, the vehicle lost control and hit a nearby electric pole, causing the front end to catch fire, injuring the Filipino driver. The police, who investigated the accident, found that the accident was caused by reckless driving and not maintaining the correct following distance. A case was registered against the Bangladeshi driver and referred to the criminal court. He was fined Dh3,000 for damaging another person’s property and driving without maintaining the correct following distance.

Edisar, who was injured in an accident and undergoing treatment at Al Qasimiyya Hospital, approached Salam Pappinissery, CEO of Yab Legal Services in the UAE, seeking compensation for the financial and moral losses he had suffered. Subsequently, under his leadership, a petition was filed in court, making the company that insured the vehicle that caused the accident the opposing party, and claiming compensation. However, the opposing party submitted a memorandum of reply, stating that the entire amount demanded could not be paid and that everything above fifty thousand should be rejected. The court, which then examined the documents submitted by both parties, accepted Edisar's legal argument and ordered the insurance company to pay three hundred thousand dirhams in compensation. However, Ediser's lawyer approached the civil court, arguing that the amount awarded was insufficient and could not compensate for the losses suffered by his client, and submitted a medical report to convince the court that Ediser had suffered permanent disability in some of his organs due to the accident. The court, which considered the case, increased the compensation to three hundred and fifty thousand dirhams (i.e., 5.4 million Philippine pesos).
