On January 16, 2017, Liaqat Ali, who was riding a bicycle in Sharjah, was hit by a car driven by a Bahraini national. He was immediately taken to the hospital, but his life could not be saved.

The police who arrived at the scene of the accident prepared a report and filed a criminal case. The court found that Liaqat Ali was driving in the right direction and that the accident was caused by the negligence of the opposing party. The court imposed a fine of 2000 dirhams on the opposing party and ordered him to pay a compensation of 200,000 dirhams.
