Reusa is a native of Kaduvapally, Thiruvananthapuram. In 2015, she married a man named Faisal in Kerala according to Islamic customs and the marriage was registered under the Kerala Registration of Marriage Act. Reusa arrived in the UAE on a husband visa in 2017. After two months, she worked as a nurse in the UAE and settled down to a peaceful life. In 2018, she gave birth to her first child, Farha Fathima. They have two daughters alive in their married life.

At the time of marriage, 40 pounds of gold and 15 cents of property were given. Although they initially went on well, later their behavior changed and they started drinking and physically abusing each other. When this continued, the family intervened several times to resolve the issue and they lived together again after they said it would not happen again. In the meantime, Rayusa lost her job and her husband Faisal ignored them. However, since 2021, the physical abuse has continued regularly and their life together has become unbearable. After several mediations failed and fearing that the lives of her and her children would be in danger if the relationship continued, she filed a case for divorce, child support and education expenses in the Sharjah Court.

Although she approached various law offices in the UAE to pursue the case, it was difficult to hire a lawyer because they charged a large amount of fees. Thus, she came to know about Yab Legal Services, which had provided a lot of free legal assistance in the UAE, and met its CEO, Salam Pappinissery, and explained their miserable situation. Understanding the situation of these and their children, Salam Pappinissery, who put an end to the tears of many expatriates, provided them with the free legal assistance they needed.

Thus, on 24/08/2023, the court issued a judgment granting Reusa an irrevocable divorce from her husband, Faisal, due to harassment, and making Faisal liable to bear the entire cost of child care and accommodation, food, clothing, and education. However, her husband, Faisal, appealed against this, but it did not have any effect.
