On August 29, 2019, a motorcycle driven by Pakistani national Najmul Hassan crashed into a car driven by another Pakistani national on Hazza Street, under the jurisdiction of Al Barsha Police Station in Dubai. Both vehicles were damaged in the accident, and the injured Najmul Hassan was admitted to Rashid Hospital. The court found Najmul Hassan guilty of causing damage to another person's property by driving his vehicle through a red traffic signal, and imposed a fine of 4,000 dirhams and suspended his license for three months.

However, the Pakistani national who was injured in the accident had filed a complaint in court, claiming that his vehicle had been damaged in the accident and that it should be repaired. However, Najmul Hasan, who works for a meager income, was unable to afford this, along with the medical expenses. When many people said that it was difficult to get insurance coverage because of his fault, Najmul Hasan, who was confused, approached Yab Legal Services, a law firm known for compensation cases in the UAE, and its CEO Salam Pappinissery went ahead with a solution to his problems. Subsequently, Najmul Hasan filed a petition in the insurance court for the financial and moral losses he had suffered, attaching his medical reports and other documents. The court, which considered the petition, awarded three lakh dirhams (i.e. 2 crore 27 lakh Pakistani rupees) as compensation for the total losses. The insurance company approached the civil appeal courts against this, but the court rejected them.
