Bangladeshi National Injured in Abu Dhabi Accident Awarded AED 70,000 in Compensation

ABU DHABI: The court has ordered a compensation of AED 70,000 (approximately 23 Lakh Bangladeshi Taka) for Bangladeshi national Ismail Khairul Bashar, who was injured in a road accident.
The incident occurred on August 2, 2024, on Sheikh Maktoum Bin Rashid Street in Al Bahyah, Abu Dhabi. While Ismail was traveling, a tire detached from a Volvo truck, which was being driven without ensuring tire safety, and bounced off to the right side, injuring two people including Ismail. He was immediately admitted to NMC Royal Hospital, having sustained a serious hip injury.
Abu Dhabi Police found that the accident was caused by the truck driver, a Syrian national, for operating the vehicle without ensuring tire safety. The driver was consequently charged in a criminal case and fined AED 7,000. However, Ismail Khairul Bashar was left without any compensation.
To secure compensation, Ismail Khairul Bashar's relatives approached Salam Pappinissery, CEO of Yab Legal Services. Taking up the case, Yab team prepared the necessary documents, including the medical certificate detailing the severity of the injury, the criminal case judgment, and a precise memorandum of arguments.
The case was registered in court against the insurance company that covered the Syrian national's vehicle.
After reviewing the documents, the court ruled that Ismail Khairul Bashar must be paid AED 70,000 as compensation. Furthermore, the court ordered the payment of AED 4,108 for medical expenses, along with 5% interest on the principal amount, effective from the date of the judgment until the full settlement is completed.
