Body of Sri Lankan national who died of burns during fire brought home

Umm Al Quwain: The body of Sri Lankan national Janitha Madhushan (24), who died of burns during a fire, has been brought home. The body, which was kept in the morgue after completing legal procedures, was handed over to her family members the other day. The man, who arrived on a visit visa, has recently started working at a leading company in Umm Al Quwain. The procedures for his visa were in progress when the accident occurred.
The accident occurred on February 2, 2020, at his residence in Umm Al Quwain. Since it was very cold that day, Madhushan and his colleagues started a fire outside their room. After some time, everyone went back to the room. However, Madhushan went with them, but after receiving a call from his wife, he was returning to the place of the fire. While the conversation continued, he tried to add to the fire. However, due to the excessive amount of solvent used for burning, the fire spread to his body. Hearing the screams, colleagues rushed to take Madhushan to Sheikh Shakhbooth Medical City in Abu Dhabi. He remained on a ventilator for 2 days, but died.
Not knowing what to do, the company employees approached Salam Pappinissery, a legal representative and social activist in the UAE, for further steps to bring the body home. It was only through his active interventions that Madhushan's body, which had not been able to be taken home for over 20 days due to legal proceedings in Abu Dhabi, was released to his family members.
