Cameroonian Man Awarded AED 60,000 Compensation in Al Ain Road Accident Case

An Al Ain court has ordered a compensation of AED 60,000 (approximately 91 Lakh Central African CFA Franc) for Brandon Fombaso Achiri, a Cameroonian national who was seriously injured in a road accident. The court ruling was a result of the legal intervention by Salam Pappinissery, the CEO of Yab Legal Services.
The accident occurred on January 10, 2022, at around 6:30 PM on Khalid Bin Waleed Street in the Al Jimi area of Al Ain. Brandon, who was on his bicycle, was hit by a Land Cruiser driven by a Jordanian national while crossing a pedestrian area. According to the Police report, the accident was caused by the driver's negligence, as he failed to reduce speed and give priority to pedestrians.
Brandon suffered severe injuries to his thigh bone and right leg and was admitted to Tawam Hospital. The Jordanian driver admitted to his fault and was fined AED 5,000 and had his license suspended for three months by the criminal court.
However, Brandon had not received any compensation for his injuries. His relatives then approached Salam Pappinissery, who took on the case and initiated legal proceedings to secure compensation. Salam Pappinissery filed a case with the insurance authority against the insurance company of the vehicle that caused the accident.
The case was supported by a set of documents, including the accident report, the criminal court judgment, the forensic medical report, and other necessary records. The court, after reviewing the evidence, ordered the insurance company to pay the victim AED 60,000 in compensation.
