Dubai: A court has ordered compensation of one and a half million dirhams (3.4 million Indian rupees) to Ghulam Ashraf, a native of Uttar Pradesh, who was injured in a car accident on Oman Road, through the intervention of Yab Legal Services CEO Salam Pappinissery.

The accident occurred on May 22, 2018, when a car that was moving near the Dubai Transportation Bridge hit a parked car. Three people in the parked car were seriously injured in the accident and were taken to Dubai's Rashid Hospital. The police, who investigated the cause of the accident, found that the driver of the vehicle that caused the accident had fallen asleep and referred the case to the criminal court. The court found him guilty and fined him Dh2,000. According to the medical reports of Ghulam Ashraf, a native of Uttar Pradesh, who was undergoing treatment for injuries and bone fractures in the accident, doctors had recorded that about 65 percent of his body was deformed. Ghulam Ashraf, who was completely bedridden following the accident, approached Salam Pappinissery, CEO of Yab Legal Services in the UAE, seeking compensation. Attaching a report certified by medical experts, he filed a petition with the insurance company and demanded compensation. The court, which considered the petition, ordered the insurance company to pay one and a half million dirhams (i.e. 3 crore 40 lakh Indian rupees). The insurance company approached the civil appeal courts against this, but the court rejected them.
