On September 1, 2019, Syed Sulaiman, an Indian, was hit by a vehicle driven by a Pakistani national while crossing the road in Sharjah's Nabba. Sulaiman, who was seriously injured in the impact, was immediately taken to the hospital and treated.

The police found that the driver's negligence was the cause of the accident and filed a case against him. The court later found the accused guilty and ordered him to pay a fine of 2,000 dirhams.

Sulaiman, who suffered a permanent disability in his right leg as a result of the accident, approached Salam Pappinissery, CEO of YAB LEGAL SERVICES, to seek compensation. Later, under his leadership, the case was submitted to the Insurance Authority. A case for compensation was registered against a leading insurance company in the UAE that insured the vehicle that caused the accident and against the driver of the vehicle. The lawyer approached the court with strong documents such as a medical report, criminal case judgment, and police report.

When the case came to court, the lawyer representing the insurance company argued that the fault was on the part of the child and that Sulaiman's injuries were not that serious. However, after carefully examining the arguments of both parties, the court found that the fault was on the part of the driver of the vehicle that hit the child and ordered the child to be paid 300,000 dirhams (68 lakh Indian rupees) based on the injuries recorded in the submitted medical certificate. However, the insurance company appealed, claiming that the awarded amount was excessive, but the appeal was dismissed due to lack of supporting evidence.
