On June 16, 2018, a car carrying Kasaragod natives met with an accident on Ras Al Khaimah Maleeha Road. One person died and four others were seriously injured in the accident. The injured were immediately admitted to Al Dhaid Hospital for treatment. The police, who investigated the accident, prepared an FIR and filed a case in court against the driver for reckless driving. The court imposed a fine of 2,500 dirhams on the driver for violating traffic rules and causing damage to another person's property and ordered him to pay a compensation of 2 lakh dirhams to the family of the deceased.

Subsequently, Kasaragod native Fayaz, who was among those seriously injured in the accident, approached Yab Legal Services CEO Salam Pappinissery, seeking compensation for the damages he suffered. Immediately, under his leadership, a petition was filed in the Insurance Court, making the insurance company the opposing party, seeking compensation. The court, which considered the petition, ordered the insurance company to pay Fayaz two lakh dirhams (i.e. 45 lakh Indian rupees).
