Dubai: Sarabjit Singh, a Punjabi national who was injured in a workplace accident, was handed over the compensation of 5 lakh dirhams (1 crore 10 lakh Indian rupees) awarded by a Dubai court at the Yab Legal Services headquarters. After a year-long legal battle, Sarabjit Singh received a court order in his favor.

On August 14, 2020, he injured his hand while cleaning a concrete mixing machine at a construction company located in Dubai. The court found that the accident occurred due to the negligence of the company's security supervisor and subsequently convicted the security supervisor. Sarabjit suffered serious injuries to his left hand in this accident. Therefore, he approached Yab Legal Services CEO- Salam Pappinissery to get compensation. Later, on his instructions, he filed a case in the Dubai Civil Court. A case was registered against the Security and Safety Supervisor and the company responsible for the accident. Sarabjit Singh's lawyer approached the court with strong documents, including forensic medical reports collected from the Medico-Legal Department of the Dubai Court.

When the case reached the court, the opposing party argued that the accident occurred due to Sarabjit's negligence, that he used to give instructions to the workers, and that the case should be dismissed. However, the opposing party's arguments could not stand up to the documents and arguments submitted by Sarabjit's lawyer. The court found that the fault lay with the opposing party, the Security and Safety Supervisor, that he should have been at the scene of the incident, and that it was his responsibility to ensure all safety measures, and therefore Sarabjit Singh was entitled to compensation.

Based on the forensic medical report submitted by Sarabjit's lawyer and the injuries that satisfied the court, the court ordered the opposing party to pay Sarabjit 500,000 dirhams and 5 percent legal interest until it is fully paid.
