Al Ain: The Al Ain court has awarded AED 30,000 (approximately 22.8 Lakh Pakistan Rupees) in compensation to a Pakistani expatriate who was injured in a road traffic accident.

The accident took place on May 1, 2024, in the Seih Bin Ammar area of Al Ain. A vehicle driven by an Iraqi national collided with a motorcycle ridden by Ibrar Hussain Muhammad Younas. The court determined that the accident was caused by the Iraqi national driving without due care and caution.

Ibrar, who suffered serious injuries in the crash, was immediately admitted to Al Tawam Hospital. He sustained significant injuries to his knee, foot, and joints and underwent treatment.

The Al Ain Criminal Court had previously fined the Iraqi national AED 3,000 for causing the accident through negligent driving.

Following the criminal verdict, Ibrar's relatives approached Salam Pappinissery, CEO of YAB Legal Services, to seek compensation. Salam Pappinissery took up the case and filed a civil suit, presenting the medical certificates, the criminal court judgment, and a detailed memorandum with clear arguments.

Considering the arguments presented, the court ordered the insurance company of the Iraqi national's vehicle to pay the injured person AED 30,000 as principal compensation, along with an additional AED 4,107 to cover treatment-related expenses. Most significantly, the court stipulated that the insurance company must also pay an annual interest of 5% on the total awarded amount, commencing from the date of the judgment until the compensation is fully settled.
