Delivery Driver Awarded AED 100,000 Compensation Following Abu Dhabi Accident

ABU DHABI: A Pakistani national, Attiq Ur Rehman Abdul Majeed, has been awarded AED 100,000 (approximately 77 Lakh Pakistan Rupees) in compensation following a road accident in the Al Shamkha area. This favorable judgment was secured through the legal intervention of Salam Pappinissery, CEO of YaB Legal Services.
The incident occurred on April 29, 2023, on a two-lane service road in Al Shamkha, Abu Dhabi. Attiq, a delivery bike driver, was struck by a car driven by another Pakistani national. The car, traveling from east to west, crossed the road without ensuring it was clear, colliding with Attiq's motorcycle.
Attiq sustained serious injuries to his leg and joints and was subsequently admitted to Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City. Although the car driver initially denied responsibility, the Criminal Court found him at fault due to negligent driving and traffic violations. He was fined AED 3,000.
As Attiq had not received compensation despite the criminal conviction, he approached Salam Pappinissery, CEO of Yab Legal Services. Necessary documents, including a copy of the accident report, forensic medical report, and payment receipts, were submitted to the court.
After reviewing the case, the court ordered the car's insurance company to pay Attiq Ur Rehman Abdul Majeed AED 100,000 in compensation. The judgment also stipulated a 5% interest on the compensation amount from the date of the verdict until full payment, along with an AED 500 lawyer's fee.
