Dubai Court Awards AED 40,000 Compensation to Pakistani National Injured in Road Accident

DUBAI: A Dubai court has ordered compensation of AED 40,000 (approximately PKR 30 Lakh) to be paid to a Pakistani national who was injured in a road accident in the UAE. The favourable verdict was issued to Awais Saeed Saeed Ahmad, who was hit by a vehicle driven by an Indian national from Kerala in Bur Dubai.
The incident occurred on January 29, 2024, near the entrance gate of Al Ghurair Printing & Publishing Company in Bur Dubai. Awais Saeed Saeed Ahmad, who works as an Aramex delivery boy, was on his motorcycle when he was struck by a pickup truck driven by the Keralite driver.
It was determined that the accident was caused by the driver entering the main road without ensuring its safety. Mr. Awais sustained serious injuries to his left hand and right toe and was subsequently admitted to Al Sakher Hospital.
The Traffic Criminal Court charged the Keralite driver responsible for the accident with a fine of AED 5,000 and suspended his driving license for three months.
Following the criminal conviction, Awais's relatives approached Salam Pappinissery, CEO of YAB Legal Services, to pursue a compensation claim. Salam Pappinissery took on the case, registering it with the court using strong documentation, including medical certificates and the criminal case judgment.
The Insurance Disputes Resolution Court, after considering the case, ordered the insurance company of the vehicle responsible for the accident to pay AED 40,000 as compensation to Awais Saeed Saeed Ahmad.
In addition to the compensation amount, the court also ruled that the insurance company must pay AED 3,850 for medical expenses and AED 500 for the lawyer's fee.
