Dubai Court Orders AED 200,000 Compensation (₹48 Lakh) for Kasaragod Native Injured in Workplace Accident

DUBAI: The Dubai Civil Court has ordered a logistics company to pay a compensation of AED 200,000 (approximately ₹48 Lakh Indian Rupees), along with 5% interest per annum until the full settlement date, to Arun, a native of Kasaragod, who suffered severe injuries in a workplace accident.
The incident occurred on November 13, 2021, at a logistics company in Jebel Ali Industrial Area 2, Dubai. Arun, who worked as a Warehouse Helper, was operating a powered pallet truck when his leg got trapped and severely crushed between the platform and a nearby wall while reversing the truck.
Arun sustained critical injuries to his left leg, including crushing, injury to blood vessels and muscles, and a fracture. Due to the severity of the injury, he required a skin graft from his thigh for the operation.
In a related criminal case, the court found the Indian Supervisor and the Pakistani Safety Manager of the company guilty, sentencing them to one month in jail and a fine of AED 5,000 each.
Subsequently, Arun approached YAB Legal Services CEO Salam Pappinissery for compensation. Through his advocates, a case was registered in the Dubai Civil Court against the logistics company and its insurance provider. Strong evidence, including medical reports and the criminal case judgment, was submitted to the court.
The Dubai Civil Court considered the case and ruled in favour of Arun, ordering the payment of AED 200,000 compensation along with 5% interest until the full payment is made.
The company appealed the Civil Court's verdict to the Appellate Court. However, the advocates from YAB Legal Services presented a strong counter-memorandum, leading the Appellate Court to reject the company’s appeal and uphold the verdict of the Civil Court.
