Sharjah: A Dubai court has ordered a compensation of AED 250,000 (approximately 1 crore 93 lakh Pakistan rupees) for Adnan Ali Maqsood Ahmed, a Pakistani national who sustained serious injuries in a car accident on Al Dhaid Street in Sharjah. This verdict was the result of legal intervention by Salam Pappinisseri, CEO of YAB Legal Services. The accident, which occurred on September 10, 2022, involved a Bulgarian national driving recklessly, whose vehicle collided with Adnan's motorcycle. Adnan was thrown onto the road and was subsequently hit by a vehicle driven by an Emirati woman, who was traveling in the same direction. Adnan suffered serious injuries to his chest, spine, and leg, and was admitted to Al Qassimi Hospital. A criminal case was filed against both drivers for violating traffic laws, and the court imposed a fine of AED 1,500 on each of them. Following this, through Salam Pappinisseri, filed a compensation lawsuit. The court ruled that the insurance companies of both vehicles must jointly pay the compensation of AED 250,000. Additionally, the court ordered a five percent interest on the amount from the date of the verdict until the payment is settled. Although the insurance companies filed an appeal against the decision, the appellate court upheld the lower court's ruling.
