Dubai court orders release of youths including Thrissur native accused of committing unnatural crime in park

Dubai: The Dubai court has ordered the release of two youths, including a native of Thrissur Chalakudy, who were in jail for allegedly sexually assaulting a person in a park under the Dera Naif police station limits. The two were able to secure a favorable verdict after a legal battle led by Salam Pappinissery, CEO of Yab Legal Services, a law firm in the UAE.
In the case where the lower court had sentenced them to prison and deportation, Yab Legal Services' advocates, Muhammad Abdurrahman Al Suwaidi and Najim Abdullah Abdulrahim, approached the Supreme Court, submitting documents proving that the accused was diabetic and had to urinate in a public place, and that the authorities had mistakenly charged him with the crime.
Salam Pappinissery mentioned that those who are in legal trouble in this case are often unaware of approaching the Supreme Court if the verdict of the ordinary appellate court is against them, and in this case, a favorable verdict was obtained by approaching the Supreme Court. He added that even though urinating in a public place is a punishable offense, the defendant was completely acquitted because he submitted medical documents proving that he had to do so because he was suffering from diabetes.
