Dubai Traffic Accident: Court Awards AED 35,000 Compensation to Pakistani National

DUBAI: The Dubai Court has ruled that a Pakistani national, Muhammad Zaman Anjam Ghulam Ali, is to be paid a compensation of AED 35,000 (approximately 26 lakh Pakistani Rupees) following injuries sustained in a traffic accident in Dubai Studio City. The legal intervention of Salam Pappinissery, CEO of YAB Legal Services, was instrumental in securing this judgment.
The accident occurred on Thursday, September 6, 2023, near Dubai Studio City when a car driven by a Syrian national collided with a motorcycle. Investigations concluded that the car driver was at fault for entering a roundabout without ensuring it was clear, striking the motorcyclist, Muhammad Zaman, who was traveling in the correct lane.
Following the accident, Muhammad Zaman suffered serious injuries to his leg. He was initially taken to NMC Jebel Ali and later transferred to Rashid Hospital for further treatment. In the related criminal traffic case, the Syrian car driver, who caused the accident, was fined AED 2,000.
Subsequently, Zaman's relatives approached Salam Pappinissery of YAB Legal Services in the UAE. Taking on the case, Salam Pappinissery filed a compensation claim with the Insurance Compensation Court, submitting sufficient documentation, including Muhammad Zaman's forensic report and the criminal case verdict.
Compensation Verdict:
After reviewing the arguments and evidence, the court ruled that Muhammad Zaman be awarded AED 35,000 in compensation. Furthermore, the court ordered the opposing party to pay 5% interest on the full amount from the date of the judgment until full settlement, along with AED 500 for the advocate's fees.
The opposing party, the insurance company, attempted to challenge the verdict by appealing to the higher court. However, based on the strong evidence presented by Muhammad Zaman's lawyer, the court dismissed the insurance company's appeal, upholding the original compensation judgment.
