On September 19, 2008, Indian national Surendran Singh hit Jaipur native Mangilal while reversing his vehicle in Al Qusais, Dubai. Although he was immediately taken to the hospital, Mangilal died of stomach bleeding due to the impact of the impact. The court found Surendran Singh guilty of causing the accident by careless driving, fined him Dh6,000, suspended his license for six months, and ordered the family of the deceased Mangilal to pay Dh200,000 as compensation. The family, devastated by Mangilal's sudden demise, has not received the amount awarded by the criminal court. The family then filed a complaint with the UAE Central Bank and the Insurance Disputes Resolution Committee, but when that was not resolved, they approached Salam Pappinissery, CEO of Yab Legal Services in the UAE. Understanding the family's needs, he took up the issue and registered a case in court with the insurance company as the opposing party. Although the opposing parties approached the court, saying that the amount should be paid to the heirs and that the necessary documents had not been submitted, Mangilal's lawyer had submitted a certificate containing the names of the heirs before the court. After examining all the documents, the court distributed two lakh dirhams (i.e. 45 lakh Indian rupees) to Mangilal's family according to Sharia law.
