Family of Pakistani national killed in Dubai car accident gets 2.43 crore Pakistani rupees compensation

Dubai: The family of Pakistani national Muhammad Shahid Hussain, who died in a road accident, was awarded a compensation of 300,000 dirhams (2.43 crore Pakistani rupees) by the court through the intervention of YAB LEGAL SERVICES CEO and social activist Salam Pappinissery.
On May 23, 2020, a lorry carrying waste was reversing on Dubai Financial Centre Road when it hit Shahid's bike, which was behind it. Shahid was seriously injured and died instantly.
The Dubai Criminal Court found that the accident occurred due to careless driving without maintaining the correct distance, and ordered the lorry driver to pay a fine of 15,000 dirhams and suspend his license for three months. Muhammad Shahid, who died in the accident, was the breadwinner of the family. Therefore, his relatives approached Yab Legal Services to seek compensation. Salam Pappinissery, who examined the details of the case, took up the case and initiated legal proceedings.
In a criminal case filed against the driver who caused the accident, the court ordered the driver to pay 2 lakhs to the family of the deceased Shahid. Understanding the severity of the accident and the nature of the injuries, the lawyer for Shahid's heirs filed a compensation case in the Insurance Disputes Resolution Court, filing a compensation case against the insurance company of the vehicle that caused the accident.
The Insurance Disputes Resolution Court, after examining the documents submitted by the heirs' attorney, such as the criminal case judgment, death certificate, and inheritance certificate, ordered the vehicle's insurance company to pay 100,000 dirhams in compensation in addition to the 200,000 dirhams.
