Free legal aid helped; Compensation amount received from Labor Court handed over to Kannur native

Sharjah: Umesh, a native of Chakkarakkal in Kannur, who was caught in a legal dilemma, has been handed over the compensation amount of 8100 dirhams (Rs. 1.5 lakh) received following the favorable verdict of the Labor Court. He received the compensation amount after legal efforts were made through free legal aid through Salam Pappinissery, a well-known legal representative and social activist in the UAE.
Umesh worked in a labor supply company under a native of Vettukad in Thiruvananthapuram from 2008 to 2020. Umesh decided to quit his job due to not receiving wages or other benefits according to the work he did and due to the bad behavior of the company owner. However, the company owner was not ready to cancel his visa or provide him with the legally required benefits when he stopped working. Subsequently, Umesh, who was in financial and mental distress, approached Salam Pappinissery to get the benefits that the company owner had withheld.
After understanding all the details of the case, Salam Pappinissery took up the case and provided free legal assistance to Umesh. Then, as per his legal advice, Umesh filed a complaint with the Labor Court showing his rights such as employment contract documents, employment wage documents, flight tickets, service allowances so far, leave allowances, etc. The company owner then submitted a reply memorandum against this complaint.
In it, the company informed the court that Umesh had been given all kinds of rights by the company. However, Umesh's lawyer argued strongly, showing that the allowance, gratuity, return flight ticket and last month's salary due to the worker had not been received. After observing the arguments and documents of both parties, the court found that there was no proper evidence for the arguments given by the company owner and that the justice was in Umesh's favor. The Labor Court ordered the company to pay Umesh 8100 dirhams (one and a half lakh rupees) including all benefits.
