On October 3, 2019, Khalid's vehicle, which was coming from Al Qus to Dubai Mall, collided with another vehicle. The impact of the collision caused the vehicle to skid and hit a nearby divider, seriously injuring Khalid, who was immediately taken to the hospital for treatment. The police, who investigated the accident, found that Khalid had fallen asleep while driving and referred the case to the court. The court, which considered the case, found Khalid guilty and issued a verdict, imposing a fine of 2,000 dirhams and suspending his license for three months.

However, Khalid, who was hospitalized with head and spinal injuries, was unable to find a source of income and was incurring huge expenses for further treatment. Khalid had approached many people, requesting compensation from the company that insured his vehicle for these losses. However, they all sent Khalid back, saying that since the fault was on Khalid's side, the insurance would not be available. Finally, Khalid approached Salam Pappinissery, CEO of Yab Legal Services in the UAE, and when he informed him of all his difficulties, he took up the case under his leadership and filed a petition in court, making the company that insured the vehicle Khalid was driving an opposing party. However, although the opposing party submitted a memorandum stating that the full amount demanded by the party could not be paid and that the accident was caused by the negligence of the person driving the vehicle, Khalid's lawyer submitted to the court the accident report and a certificate certified by the insurance company itself that the vehicle, driver, and its passengers would be insured in the event of an accident. After hearing the arguments of both parties, the court accepted Khalid's lawyer's argument and ordered the insurance company to pay Khalid four lakh dirhams, or three crore 4 lakh Pakistani rupees, as compensation. However, the insurance company approached the civil appeal courts, claiming that the awarded amount was excessive, but the court rejected all those petitions.
