The accident occurred on Marazi Street in Dubai Business Bay when a bike driven by Pakistani national Habibullah hit an Iraqi national who was crossing the road. Both injured in the accident were immediately taken to Rashid Hospital. The police registered a case against the Pakistani national for reckless driving and causing damage to another person's property, and against the Iraqi national for crossing the road where he was not supposed to. The court found both guilty and fined them two thousand dirhams. However, the Pakistani national, who was seriously injured in the accident and undergoing treatment, had his bike completely destroyed and its owner had filed a case against the Pakistani national. Habibullah approached many insurance companies to get compensation from them as his vehicle was insured, but many turned him away, saying that it would be difficult to get insurance as the accident had occurred due to his negligence. Finally, he approached Salam Pappinissery, CEO of Yab Legal Services in the UAE, and filed a petition in the Insurance Court under his leadership. The court, after examining the medical reports submitted by Habibullah's lawyer, who was undergoing treatment for injuries sustained in the accident, ordered the insurance company to pay two lakh dirhams (approximately 1.5 crore Pakistani rupees) as compensation.
