On December 26, 2021, Gopinath, an Indian national, was hit by a car driven by a Jordanian national while he was trying to cross the road near Sharjah Sahara City Center. Gopinath, who was seriously injured in the accident, was taken to the hospital for primary treatment and then returned to his home country for further treatment. The police, who investigated the cause of the accident, referred the Jordanian national to the criminal court, which found him guilty of reckless driving, but the accused denied the charges before the court, saying that Gopinath had crossed the road where he was not allowed to cross the road. However, the criminal court found the Jordanian national guilty of causing harm to the body and property of another person due to his negligence and fined him Dh1,500.

Gopinath, who had to undergo further treatment in his home country due to the high cost of treatment in the UAE, had to face many financial and moral losses. He approached many people seeking compensation for his losses, but many turned him away, saying that he had not crossed the road where he was allowed to, and that it would be difficult to get insurance because he did not have a medical report from a UAE hospital due to treatment in his home country. However, Gopinath's friend in the UAE approached Salam Pappinissery, CEO of Yab Legal Services, and told him all his problems. Immediately, under his leadership, he took steps to obtain the medical reports to be submitted to the insurance company, spoke to people in various departments in the country and the UAE, obtained the medical report from the UAE Presidential Ministry, and filed a lawsuit in court against the company that insured the vehicle that caused the accident. A petition was filed for compensation. However, the opposing party filed a reply memorandum stating that the petitioners had not submitted a proper medical report and therefore the case should be dismissed. However, after examining all the documents submitted by both parties, the court accepted Gopinath's argument and ordered the insurance company to pay two lakh dirhams, i.e. 45 lakh Indian rupees, as compensation.
