The accident occurred on August 3, 2019, in Al Ain when a car driven by a Pakistani national lost control and crashed into a sand dune. All the passengers in the vehicle were seriously injured in the accident and Amresh, a native of Uttar Pradesh, died. The deceased opened the door while the vehicle was moving and lost control of it, causing the vehicle to slide into the sand dune. The police had registered a case against the driver of the vehicle on charges of reckless driving and excessive speeding. The court sentenced him to one year in prison, a fine of 1,000 dirhams and compensation to the family of the deceased.

After the death of Amresh, who was the family's support, the heirs approached Salam Pappinissery, CEO of Yab Legal Services in the UAE, to obtain compensation. Subsequently, under his leadership, a petition was filed in the insurance court. However, the opposing party, the insurance company, argued that the party had died, that the criminal court had granted compensation, and that no other compensation should be paid. However, Amresh's lawyer argued against this by presenting medical reports and the vehicle's insurance policy acts. The court then examined the documents and upheld the arguments of Amresh's lawyer and ordered an additional one lakh dirhams (a total of three lakh dirhams (i.e. sixty-eight lakh Indian rupees)).
