Ras Al Khaimah: The Ras Al Khaimah Court has ordered a compensation of AED 200,000 (approximately ₹48 Lakh Indian Rupees) to an Indian national who sustained serious injuries in a car accident at Jebel Jais. The court ruled in favour of Amarjeeth Singh Jasbir Singh, a resident of Punjab, India.
The incident occurred on December 4, 2023. Amarjeeth Singh was descending Jebel Jais with his British friend when they stopped the car to take photos. While Amarjeeth was seated on the car's bonnet, he asked his friend to move the vehicle slightly forward. When the friend released the handbrake, the car began to move down the slope. Amarjeeth fell under the car, and the vehicle drove over him. He was immediately rushed to Al Saqr Hospital, having sustained severe injuries to his hand, ribs, and spine.
The Traffic Criminal Court found negligence on the part of the car driver and imposed a fine of AED 5,000.
Following the accident, Amarjeeth Singh's relatives approached Salam Pappinissery, CEO of YAB Legal Services, seeking compensation. Salam Pappinissery took up the case and initiated legal proceedings to claim damages. He registered the case by submitting strong documentation, including medical certificates and the Criminal Case judgment.
The Insurance Dispute Settlement Court, which heard the case, ruled that the insurance company of the vehicle responsible for the accident must pay AED 200,000 as compensation to Amarjeeth Singh. Additionally, the court ordered the insurance company to cover AED 3,850 for medical fees and AED 500 for advocate fees.
