Indian National Awarded AED 60,000 in Accident Compensation Court Orders Payout for Injuries Sustained in Sharjah Crash

SHARJAH, UAE – An Indian national, Mohammed Tousif Gayaz Ahamed, has been awarded AED 60,000 (approximately 14.28 lakh Indian Rupees) in compensation following a car accident on Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Street in Sharjah. The ruling, handed down recently, also mandates an additional AED 3850 for medical expenses. The successful outcome was facilitated by the legal expertise of Salam Pappinissery, CEO of YAB Legal Services.
The incident, which occurred on Saturday, April 27, 2024, involved a Nissan pickup and a parked Toyota Camry. Mohammed Tousif was a passenger in the Nissan pickup, which was traveling from Fujairah to Maliha. The Syrian driver of the pickup reportedly swerved suddenly to the right, colliding with the Camry, which was parked off the road, selling vegetables. The impact caused both vehicles to overturn.
Mohammed Tousif sustained a leg injury in the crash. The initial criminal case found the Syrian driver at fault, resulting in a fine of AED 1000.
Speaking on the incident, the pickup driver told police he was traveling at 90 km/h in the right lane when, he believes, his front right tire burst. He claimed he lost consciousness before the collision and that a vehicle malfunction, not his fault, was the cause of the accident.
Following the criminal proceedings, Mohammed Tousif, represented by YAB Legal Services, filed a compensation claim against the insurance company of the Nissan pickup. The court, after reviewing evidence including the accident report, forensic medical report, and payment receipts, ruled in favor of Ahamed, ordering the substantial compensation.
