Dubai: Suhair Kuttuvath, a native of Thaliparamba, Kannur, who sustained serious injuries in a car accident in Dubai, has been awarded AED 65,000 (approximately INR 1,550,000) in compensation. This amount was secured through an out-of-court settlement, facilitated by the legal efforts of Salam Pappinissery, CEO of YAB Legal Services.

The accident occurred on Thursday, November 16, 2023, on the road in front of City Mart Supermarket in Dubai's Al Karama area. A Tanzanian national was driving when their car was rear-ended by a vehicle driven by a Yemeni national. The impact caused the driver of the front car to lose control, mistakenly pressing the accelerator instead of the brake. This resulted in the car crashing into a nearby restaurant, injuring four people, including Suhair Kuttuvath. All injured individuals were promptly admitted to Rashid Hospital. The Yemeni national fled the scene without stopping.

Subsequently, a criminal case was filed against the Yemeni national, leading to a one-month imprisonment sentence and a six-month suspension of their driver's license. Suhair Kuttuvath suffered severe injuries to his right leg and joint. His relatives then approached Salam Pappinissery, CEO of YAB Legal Services, to pursue a compensation claim. Under Salam Pappinissery's guidance, legal proceedings commenced. During this process, the insurance company of the Yemeni national contacted Suhair's advocate, expressing interest in an out-of-court settlement. After negotiations, the insurance company agreed to pay the requested compensation of AED 65,000, acknowledging the extent of Suhair's injuries.
