Kozhikode Native Awarded 350,000 Dirhams(82.43 Lakh Indian Rupees) in Dubai Accident Compensation

DUBAI: A court in Dubai has ordered a compensation of 350,000 Dirhams (approximately 82.43 Lakh Indian Rupees) for Rafeekh Nangiarath Moidu, a native of Ayancheri, Kozhikode, who was seriously injured after being hit by a motorcycle while crossing a road. The legal intervention of Salam Pappinissery, CEO of Yab Legal Services, was instrumental in securing this verdict.

The accident occurred on May 28, 2023, near Que Club in Al Barsha, Dubai. Rafeekh was crossing the road when he was struck by a motorcycle with a Dubai registration number. The driver fled the scene before the police arrived. Rafeekh, who sustained a severe head injury, was immediately taken to Rashid Hospital. He suffered from a severe brain hemorrhage, loss of vision, and cognitive impairment. He was later taken back to his hometown for further treatment.

The Dubai Criminal Court had ordered the identification and arrest of the unknown driver who caused the accident. Following this, Rafeekh's relatives approached Salam Pappinissery of Yab Legal Services, and Rafeekh's wife provided him with a Power of Attorney. Legal proceedings were initiated, and a case was registered with the Insurance Authority. The Insurance Authority ultimately ordered the insurance company of the motorcycle that caused the accident to pay 350,000 Dirhams (approximately 82.43 Lakh Indian Rupees) as compensation.
