Sharjah: Abdul Hameed, a native of Naduvannoor, Kozhikode, who was harassed by his employer, returned to his native place in Kodoli Poonathil. Abdul Hameed was helped by free legal aid from Yab Legal Services.

Abdul Hameed had been working as a waiter at Fanon Hot Fish Restaurant in Dubai, owned by Abdul Karim, a native of Kottakkal, Malappuram, for the past year and a half. After a year, he went home for leave and when he returned a month later, he was not allowed to work. Following this, Abdul Hameed complained that when he asked to cancel his visa, he was asked for money. Despite being ready to pay the money, the visa was not canceled. When he approached the Ministry of Labor for this, it was learned that his employer had filed a complaint that he had absconded.

Following this, Yab Legal Services CEO Salam Pappinissery was approached and legal assistance was provided through him. The Ministry of Labor came to the realization that Abdul Hameed had not absconded and that his employer had filed a false case to avoid canceling his visa, and as per the instructions of the authorities, Abdul Hameed was ordered to be deported, with the lifetime ban lifted.
