Sharjah: A Kannur native who was in crisis after the company authorities did not provide employment benefits has obtained benefits through a legal battle.With the free legal assistance of Ali Ibrahim Advocates and Legal Consultants in Sharjah, Kannur native Nishanth Mattummel returned home with benefits.Nishanth, who had been working in the Sharjah company of Somali native Mohammed Hersi for five years, had applied for visa cancellation a month before the visa expired.However, the company authorities were asked to cancel the visa by writing that he had received ‘benefits’ without providing employment benefits. Subsequently, Nishanth approached the Ministry of Labor in Sharjah, but the company authorities there also refused to provide benefits to him. In this situation, the work carried out by social activist Salam Pappinissery, lawyers K. S. Arun, Ramya Aravind, Rashmi R. Murali, Jasmine Shamir, and legal representative Vinod Kumar, led by lawyers, resulted in a favorable decision for Nishanth through free legal aid.Thus, in this case, which was taken over by the Labor Court from the Ministry of Labor, he received benefits of 7,416 dirhams (Rs. 1,26,070) and a return flight ticket from the company.
