Malayali injured in car accident gets over 1 Crore Rupees in compensation

Sharjah: A Dubai court has ordered a compensation of 5,75,000 dirhams (Rs. 14,000) including court costs to a Kasaragod native who was injured in a road accident.
The court ruled in favor of Umesh Kumaran, a native of Uduma who was working as a driver in Dubai RTA. The case is based on a road accident that occurred on Sharjah's Etihad Road on September 16 last year that resulted in the death of one person.
Two people, including Umesh, were walking on the roadside when a vehicle driven by a Malayali hit them. Subramanian Babu, a native of Thiruvananthapuram, who was with him, died in the impact and Umesh was seriously injured.
Umesh was first admitted to Sharjah's Al Qasimiya Hospital. Later, he was taken to his home country for further treatment. The court sentenced the Malayali driver responsible for the incident to two months in prison and ordered the family of the deceased to pay a compensation of two hundred thousand dirhams. A man named Vineeth Kumar and Umesh's relatives approached Yab Legal Services on behalf of the injured Umesh. With the help of Salam Pappinissery, the CEO of the company, they filed a case in the Dubai court, naming the Malayali driver and the insurance company as defendants.
The court accepted the argument made by Umesh's advocate that the seriously injured Umesh was the only support of his family. Salam Pappinissery announced that he would approach the Court of Appeal to increase the compensation amount. Umesh is the son of Meethal Mangadan Kumaran of Uduma.
