Ajman: The Ajman Court has awarded AED 300,000 (approximately 1 Crore 17 Lakh Nepalese Rupees) in compensation to Gopal Bahadur, a Nepalese national who sustained serious injuries in a traffic accident.

The accident occurred on June 23, 2023, on the Al Jurf - Sheikh Zayed Road in Ajman, opposite the Al Hamidiya Police Station. An Indian driver of a Mitsubishi Fuso vehicle, coming from Al Hamidiya Street, ran a red light and collided with another vehicle traveling on Sheikh Zayed Street.

As a result of the collision, the driver of the Mitsubishi vehicle and two passengers, including Gopal Bahadur, were injured. Gopal Bahadur suffered severe injuries to his head, face, chest, and hip and was immediately admitted to Sheikh Khalifa Hospital in Ajman for treatment.

Police investigations concluded that the Indian driver was responsible for the accident for running the red light. Subsequently, the driver was fined AED 10,000 in the criminal case proceedings.

Following the accident, Gopal Bahadur's relatives approached Salam Pappinissery, CEO of YAB Legal Services. Salam Pappinissery took up the case and filed a compensation claim against the insurance company of the Mitsubishi vehicle.

He submitted all necessary documentation to the court, including the medical certificate, the criminal case judgment, and a memorandum containing clear legal arguments.

After hearing arguments from both sides, the court ruled in favor of Gopal Bahadur. The verdict ordered the insurance company to pay a compensation of AED 300,000 and also mandated a 5% interest on the amount, calculated from the date of the verdict until the full payment is made.
