DUBAI: A Pakistani national, Qayyum Athar Mohammed Yusuf, who sustained injuries in a traffic accident in Dubai, has been awarded AED 70,000 (approximately PKR 5.35 million) in compensation following the intervention of Salam Pappinissery, CEO of Yab Legal Services.

The accident occurred on Friday, November 24, 2023, behind the Viva Market in Al Barsha, Dubai. An Emirati national driving a car collided with the motorcycle driven by Qayyum, resulting in injuries to the latter. He was immediately admitted to Rashid Hospital for treatment.

Following an investigation, the Dubai Police determined that the accident was caused by the Emirati driver's inattentive driving. Consequently, the driver was charged and fined AED 2,000. However, Qayyum, who suffered severe injuries to his right hand and left knee, had not received any compensation.

Subsequently, Qayyum's relatives approached Salam Pappinissery, CEO of Yab Legal Services, for assistance. Mr. Pappinissery took up the case and initiated the necessary legal procedures to secure compensation for the injured man.

Under his guidance, a case was registered with the Insurance Authority, accompanied by essential documents including a medical certificate detailing the extent of the injuries, the criminal case judgment, and a comprehensive memorandum. The insurance company that had insured the vehicle responsible for the accident was named as the opposing party in the case.

After reviewing the submitted documents, the court heard the case and delivered a verdict ordering the insurance company to pay Qayyum Athar Mohammed Yusuf AED 70,000 in compensation.
