SHARJAH: A Sharjah court has ordered an insurance company to pay AED 130,000 (approximately 98 Lakh Pakistani Rupees) in compensation to Atif Siddique Muhammad Siddique, a Pakistani national who sustained serious injuries in a traffic accident in Kalba.

The accident occurred on July 14, 2024, on Al Wahda Street, within the jurisdiction of the Kalba Police Station. Atif was riding his motorcycle when a Toyota Corolla, driven by an Egyptian national, made a negligent lane change, resulting in a severe collision. The impact threw Atif onto the road, causing grave injuries to his legs and pelvic region. He was immediately rushed to Kalba Hospital for emergency medical treatment.

Following the police investigation, the Egyptian driver was found guilty of reckless driving, and the Criminal Court subsequently imposed a fine of AED 3,000.

Seeking justice and coverage for his medical and emotional distress, Atif approached Salam Pappinissery, CEO of YAB Legal Services. The legal team took over the case and filed a civil claim against the driver’s insurance provider. They submitted comprehensive evidence, including specialized medical reports detailing the severity of the pelvic injuries, the criminal court’s verdict, and a legal memorandum highlighting the driver's negligence.

After reviewing the strong arguments presented by YAB Legal Services, the Insurance Dispute Settlement Committee ruled in favor of Atif Siddique. The court ordered the insurance company to pay a primary compensation of AED 130,000 for physical and moral damages, along with AED 4,100 for medical expenses and AED 500 in legal fees. Furthermore, the court directed that an annual interest of 5% be applied to the total amount, effective from the date of the verdict until the full payment is successfully settled. These ruling highlights the commitment of the legal system to ensuring that victims receive comprehensive justice for their suffering and financial losses.
