Abu Dhabi: A Pakistani national, Moazzam Ali Khan Mushtaq Ahmad, who sustained injuries in a road accident in Al Shamkha, Abu Dhabi, has been awarded AED 40,000 (approximately PKR 3.1 million) in compensation by the court.

The accident occurred on April 30, 2024, on a public road in Al Shamkha. Moazzam Ali was riding his motorcycle on the right side of the road when, due to a lapse in attention, his motorcycle collided with the rear of a Nissan car driven by an Emirati national that was in front of him.

Following the accident, Moazzam Ali Khan suffered leg injuries and was admitted to Sheikh Shakhbout Hospital in Abu Dhabi. Since the fault was determined to be with Moazzam Ali Khan, the criminal court fined him AED 1,000 and released him. However, Moazzam Ali Khan, who faced financial difficulties due to medical expenses and other costs, had not received any compensation. His relatives then approached Yab Legal Services CEO Salam Pappinissery to file a case.

Moazzam Ali Khan's advocate filed a case against the insurance company of his motorcycle, demanding compensation for the injuries sustained. After a detailed review of the submitted documents, the Insurance Authority accepted Moazzam Ali's argument and ordered the insurance company to pay AED 40,000 in compensation and an additional AED 3,850 for medical expenses.
