ABU DHABI: The Insurance Dispute Resolution Court in Abu Dhabi has ordered the payment of AED 80,000 (approximately 61 Lakh Pakistani Rupees) in compensation to Munsif Ali Said Uz Zaman, a Pakistani national who was injured in a serious road accident on the Al Ain - Abu Dhabi road.

The accident occurred when a vehicle, driven by a fellow Pakistani national, lost control, colliding first with a vehicle stopped near a traffic light, and then skidding into a second one. Munsif Ali, who was a passenger in one of the impacted vehicles, sustained serious injuries to his hand and nose and was immediately taken to Tawam Hospital in Al Ain for treatment.

The driver responsible for causing the accident was penalized with a criminal fine of AED 3,000.

Following the incident, Munsif Ali’s relatives sought assistance from Salam Pappinissery, CEO of YAB Legal Services. Salam Pappinissery took on the case and filed a compensation claim against the insurance company of the at-fault vehicle.

The court ruled that the insurance company must pay AED 80,000 as compensation, along with AED 3,850 for medical expenses and AED 500 towards advocate fees, in addition to 5% interest on the compensation amount, effective from the date of the verdict until the full payment is completed. The insurance company challenged this ruling, appealing the decision to the Court of Appeal and subsequently to the Supreme Court. However, the appellate courts rejected all appeals after Munsif Ali’s advocate submitted a strong counter-memorandum, thereby upholding the original compensation verdict.
