Pakistani National Receives AED 150,000 Compensation for Serious Injuries in Sharjah Accident

Sharjah: In a significant court ruling, Mohammed Fiaz Mohammed Riaz, a Pakistani national who sustained severe injuries in a traffic accident in Sharjah's Industrial Area 17 on June 12, 2023, has been awarded substantial compensation. The efficient legal intervention of Salam Pappinissery, CEO of YAB Legal Services, was pivotal in securing this verdict. Riaz will receive AED 150,000 (approximately PKR 1 crore 15 lakh 60 thousand) in damages.
The incident occurred when an Indian national had parked their vehicle on the side of a two-lane road. A Pakistani national, driving negligently, collided with the rear of the parked vehicle. The impact left both the Pakistani driver and Mohammed Fiaz Mohammed Riaz, who was a passenger, with serious injuries, primarily affecting Fiaz's legs and joints. Both individuals were immediately transferred to Sheikh Khalifa Hospital in Ajman for medical attention. In the criminal case registered following the accident, both the Indian national who was driving the parked vehicle and the Pakistani national who caused the collision were fined AED 1,000 each for violating traffic laws due to negligent driving.
Facing significant difficulties due to his severe injuries and receiving no initial compensation, Riaz approached Salam Pappinissery, CEO of YAB Legal Services. Under Salam Pappinissery's leadership, a compensation case was filed against both the insurance company of the parked vehicle and the insurance company of the vehicle that caused the rear-end collision. All necessary documents, including the accident report, forensic medical report, and payment receipts proving treatment expenses, were submitted to the court. The court considered various factors, including the loss of earning capacity, physical and psychological trauma, and medical expenses incurred by Riaz. After thoroughly reviewing all aspects of the case, the court ordered both insurance companies—that of the parked vehicle and the colliding vehicle—to jointly pay Mohammed Fiaz Mohammed Riaz AED 150,000 in compensation.
