SHARJAH, July 6, 2025: A Pakistani national, Khalid Usman Bahadur Khan, who sustained injuries in a traffic accident in Sharjah Saja on July 3, 2023, has been awarded 55,000 UAE Dirhams (approximately 4.25 million Pakistani Rupees) in compensation. The court verdict came following legal intervention by Salam Pappinissery, CEO of Yab Legal Services.

The accident occurred on July 3, 2023, at approximately 6:30 AM, when a vehicle driven by another Pakistani national skidded on an oil patch on the road in Sharjah Saja, losing control and hitting Khalid Usman, who was standing by the roadside. Khalid suffered serious injuries to his right wrist and arm muscles. He was immediately taken to Al Qasimi Hospital in Sharjah and later transferred to Saqr Hospital in Ras Al Khaimah.

The court found the driver of the vehicle responsible for the accident due to negligence and subsequently fined him 1,000 Dirhams. However, Khalid Usman had not received any compensation for his injuries. It was then that his relatives approached Salam Pappinissery, CEO of Yab Legal Services.

Upon taking up the case, Salam Pappinissery initiated legal proceedings to secure compensation for Khalid. A compensation claim was registered with the Insurance Authority, including a medical certificate clearly detailing the extent of the injuries, the criminal case judgment, and a memorandum containing precise arguments. After reviewing the documents, the court ordered the insurance company of the vehicle responsible for the accident to pay Khalid Usman 55,000 Dirhams as compensation.

The insurance company appealed the decision, arguing that the awarded amount was excessive and that Khalid's injuries were minor. However, due to the comprehensive counter-memorandum submitted by Khalid's lawyer, the appellate court dismissed the appeal and upheld the lower court's ruling, ordering the payment of the original 55,000 Dirhams.
