Al Ain: Shihab Pankuzhiyil Muhammad Kutty, a native of Palakkad, India, has been awarded a compensation of AED 150,000 (approximately INR 3.518 million) by the court following a serious road accident in Al Ain. The successful legal intervention of Mr. Salam Pappinissery, CEO of YAB Legal Services, was instrumental in securing this compensation.

The accident occurred on Friday, January 5, 2024, in the early hours of the morning, on Nahal Street in Al Ain. An Emirati national, driving a Nissan Patrol, collided with Shihab's Toyota Corolla. Shihab sustained severe injuries to his head, chest, and spine and was immediately admitted to Tawam Hospital in Al Ain for treatment.

The court determined that the accident was caused by the Emirati national's negligent driving, leading to a fine of AED 3,000 against him in the criminal case. Initially, Shihab did not receive any compensation for his significant injuries. It was at this point that his relatives approached Salam Pappinissery of YAB Legal Services.

Upon taking up the case, Mr. Pappinissery initiated the necessary legal proceedings. He registered a compensation claim with the insurance authority, submitting all pertinent documents, including the accident report, criminal case judgment, police report, and detailed medical reports. After reviewing the evidence, the court ordered the insurance company of the Emirati national's vehicle to pay Shihab AED 150,000 in compensation. However, the insurance company appealed the decision, arguing that the awarded amount was excessive, but the appeal court dismissed their case, upholding the original verdict.
