The UAE properties of Alappuzha native Thuramangalam Krishna Pillai Mahesh, who died last year, have been handed over to his daughter Meenakshi Mahesh. With the free legal assistance of Sharjah-based legal representative and social activist Salam Pappinissery, daughter Meenakshi quickly received 44,136 dirhams (about Rs. 10 lakhs) and a vehicle in her father's name. Meenakshi Mahesh is a student in Canada. Meenakshi's parents, Krishna Pillai and Suma, died in Sharjah within a month of each other.

Suma, who was infected with Covid, died on August 21 last year. The following month, on September 9, her husband Krishna Pillai also died of a heart attack in Sharjah. Meenakshi, the only daughter, who was in financial difficulty after the death of her parents, was seeking legal assistance to get her father's assets in the UAE, including money. Salam Pappinisserri Meenakshi lost legal aid on the instructions of former Sharjah Indian Association president E. P. Johnson.

The consent letter and inheritance documents of the deceased Krishna Pillai's siblings in his homeland were presented to the Sharjah Sharia Court. Then, information related to Krishna Pillai collected from the Central Bank of India's Traffic Department and Etisalat was submitted to the court. The mobile SIM card used by Krishna Pillai was also returned to Meenakshi. Krishna Pillai had worked in the UAE for 15 years.
