Ras Al Khaimah drug case: Court rules Palakkad native Sujeesh innocent thanks to Salam Pappinissery's intervention.

Abu Dhabi: A Malayali youth arrested in a drug case has been released from jail. Sujeesh (27), a native of Pattambi Karambathur, Palakkad, was released by the Abu Dhabi Appeal Court after being found innocent. Sujeesh got a favorable verdict through the intervention of Salam Pappinissery, CEO of Yab Legal Service.
The incident related to the case took place on September 16, 2022. Based on information received by the Anti-Narcotics Department that a drug gang was operating based in Ras Al Khaimah, an investigating officer impersonated a needy person and contacted the drug trafficking gang. The police contacted another Malayali who was selling crystal drugs in the UAE. Sujeesh was living with him. Sujeesh was not aware that his roommate was selling drugs. Sujeesh was in the room with the drug dealer at the time of the incident.
Later, an officer who came in disguise to buy drugs mistook Sujeesh, who was in the room with the drug dealer, for a link in the drug trafficking gang and arrested him.
During the subsequent interrogation, he confessed that he was innocent and that he did not know that the person he was staying with was selling drugs. Subsequent investigation revealed that there were 7 people in this drug gang and the police filed a case against them, including Sajeesh. When the case reached the court, the verdict was to sentence all the accused to life imprisonment and deport them. Sujeesh, who was in a legal dilemma and in crisis, approached Salam Pappinissery. After examining the details of the case, he understood the truth, took up the case and approached the Court of Appeal.
When the case reached the Court of Appeal, Sujeesh denied the charges as per the legal advice given by the Yab Legal Services lawyer. The lawyer also submitted a memorandum containing details proving Sujeesh's innocence to the court. The court, which carefully examined the details of the case, was convinced that Sujeesh was not involved in the sale of narcotics based on the evidence and statements made before the prosecution.
The appeal court ordered Sujeesh to be acquitted because he had denied the charges against him from beginning to end and because he had received an explanatory memorandum stating that his participation in the crime was unintentional and that he had established a relationship with his roommate without knowing that he was selling narcotics.
