Sharjah Accident: Nepali National Awarded AED 40,000 in Compensation

Sharjah: A Nepali national, Ramesh Joshi, who was injured in a collision between his motorcycle and a car in Sharjah, has been awarded a court judgment for AED 40,000 (approximately 1,540,000 Nepali Rupees) in compensation. The court has also ordered that the compensation amount must include 5% legal interest per annum, calculated from the date of the verdict until the full amount is paid.
The incident occurred on October 5, 2024, at 8:30 PM. The accident in Sharjah Industrial 2 involved the motorcycle ridden by Ramesh Joshi, a restaurant delivery boy, and a car driven by a Turkmenistani national. The court found that the car driver was at fault for the accident due to driving without maintaining a safe distance and violating traffic regulations. Consequently, the court had previously imposed a fine of AED 1,000 on the car driver.
Following the crash, Ramesh Joshi sustained serious injuries to his shoulder, resulting in swelling and restricted mobility. He was initially admitted to Kuwait Hospital and later transferred to Kalba Hospital for treatment.
Subsequently, Ramesh Joshi's relatives approached YAB Legal Services CEO, Salam Pappinissery, to pursue a compensation claim. Lawyers under his direction registered the case with the Insurance Dispute Resolution Court. After thoroughly reviewing the documents submitted to the court, the court ordered the insurance company of the Turkmenistani national's vehicle to pay the AED 40,000 as compensation.
