SHARJAH: In a significant legal victory, a Pakistani national, Salim Mohammad Khan Mohammad, who sustained serious injuries in a car accident in Sharjah, has been awarded AED 250,000 (approximately PKR 19.3 million) in compensation by the court. The favorable verdict was a direct result of the legal intervention by Salam Pappinissery, CEO of Yab Legal Services.

The accident occurred on December 24, 2022, on Al Nad Street in Al Madam Road, Sharjah. Salim Mohammad and his friend Suhail were standing by the roadside in the early hours when a speeding vehicle, driven by an Emirati national, struck them. The vehicle also collided with two parked cars on the roadside. Following the accident, Salim, who suffered severe injuries, and his friend were immediately taken to Al Dhaid Hospital for treatment.

Investigations revealed that the accident was caused by the Emirati national's negligence and excessive speed. The police subsequently registered a criminal case against him, and upon his admission of guilt, the court fined him AED 3500 and released him. However, Salim, who sustained injuries to multiple parts of his body, including his left arm, right leg, and ribs, had not received any compensation for his injuries.

Following this, Salim's relatives approached Salam Pappinissery, CEO of Yab Legal Services. He took on the case and initiated the necessary legal proceedings to secure compensation. The compensation claim was filed with the Insurance Authority, naming the insurance company of the at-fault vehicle as the respondent, along with all the required documents. The advocate submitted a detailed memorandum outlining the arguments to the court. After a thorough review of the submitted documents and arguments, the court ordered the payment of AED 250,000 as compensation to Salim.
